Breakdown of lyrics
Say my name and his in the same breath (40s - 43s)
I dare you to say they taste the same (44s - 46)
Let the leaves fall off in the summer (46s - 48s))
And let December glow in flames (49s - 53s)
Brace myself and let go (54s - 57s)
Start it over again in Mexico (57s - 1m)
These friends, they don't love you (1.01 - 1.05)
They just love the hotel suites now (1.05 - 1.08)
I don't care what you think (1.09 - 1.11)
As long as it's about me (1.12 - 1.14)
The best of us can find happiness in misery (1.15 - 1.22)
Said I don't care what you think (1.22 - 1.25)
As long as it's about me (1.26 - 1.29)
The best of us can find happiness in misery (1.30 - 1.34)
Oh take a chance (1.41 - 1.42)
Let your body get a tolerance (1.42 - 1.44)
I'm not a chance, but a heat wave in your pants (1.44 - 1.47)
Pull a breath like another cigarette (1.48 - 1.50)
Palms up, I'm trading 'em (trading 'em) (1.50 - 1.55)
I'm the oracle in my chest (1.55 - 1.58)
Let the guitar scream like a fascist (1.59 - 2.05)
Sweat it out, shut your mouth (2.05 - 2.06)
Free love on the streets (2.06 - 2.07)
But in the alley I ain't that cheap, now (2.07 - 2.10)
I don't care what you think (2.10 - 2.14)
As long as it's about me (2.14 - 2.17)
The best of us can find happiness in misery (2.17 - 2.24)

survey of expectations

Here we have conducted a survey and asked people of what they would expect in a music video in the similar genre and way of fall out boy, we had several similar responces of skinny jeans, dark colours and a mix of performance and narrative.
1) What clothes would you expect to see in a music video of a band similar
to the genre of fall out boy?
2) What type of lighting and colours would you expect to see in a music
video of a band similar to the genre of fall out boy?
3) Do you prefer a narrative or performance based music video or mix of both?
4) Would you expect to see a narrative or performance based or mixed
music video of a band similar to the genre of fall out boy?
1) ermm "skater" type clothes (i think),
2) bright colours
3) i prefer a nice mixed music video;)
4) and i would expect to see a mixed from a fall out boy - type band
1) skinny jeans/punky shit
2) generally dark
3) mix of both
4) performance based
1) Darkish clothes, eyeliner etc.
2) darkish
3) Mixed
4) mixed
1) Skinny jeans, black, converse, ties etc.
2) depends, but usually a mixture of all
3) mixture

4) both
1) They've got a nerdy rocker look going on, bar the bassist.
2) I'd say darker colours, with the lighting mainly drawn on the band.
3) A Mix.
4) Mainly narrative, occasionally cutting to performance.

Typical Conventions of Fall Out Boy / Emo Music

Fall out boys music, image and persona has changed over the past 8 years, the typical emo convention has been fluent throughout.
For example in one of the bands first music videos 'a little less sixteen candles a little
more touch me' the band wear dark colored tight clothes, this is a typical convention
of emo bands and has almost became a calling card for the band.
The band also experiment with unique, individual hairstyles, i believe they do this to get a reaction out of people and to cause controversy, which after all is what emo is all about.
Advert Analysis

The Stereophonics look Calm and carry on album cover shows , the water rising, yet they don't care they are going to "keep calm and carry on" they look nice and relaxed to suite the mood of the album. The color pallete of the album is very neutral, with mainly blues and greys.the only vibrant colors in the artwork come from the table in which the band are sitting, this draws the viewers eye into the centre of the bands position and gives each member an equal view.
The bands name is in bold which strengthens the 'corperate logo' of the product.
The band are wearing very dark, dull colors... the colors they wear stand out to a certain extent but don't overpower the background...both the background and the foreground compliment each other so well.
The release date and different media format's are also advertised at the bottom of the artwork, however they are in a white font, in my opinion this is to contrast between the band logo etc.

the album features an island, the island is lavished with expensive items such as a penthouse style building...in my opinion this could be the band symbolising their rise to fame. in my opinion the island also looks similar to a cartoon style face, this cartoon theme is a trademark of the bands. the colours in the artwork are highly contrasting, the bright colours all come from the island, this gives of the impressin that the island is a really fun place to be compared to the dull mircy water in the foreground.
the band logo is in the foreground also, in my opinion this is to make it stand out... the bright text and the dull water creates a high contrast.
