Breakdown of lyrics
Say my name and his in the same breath (40s - 43s)
I dare you to say they taste the same (44s - 46)
Let the leaves fall off in the summer (46s - 48s))
And let December glow in flames (49s - 53s)
Brace myself and let go (54s - 57s)
Start it over again in Mexico (57s - 1m)
These friends, they don't love you (1.01 - 1.05)
They just love the hotel suites now (1.05 - 1.08)
I don't care what you think (1.09 - 1.11)
As long as it's about me (1.12 - 1.14)
The best of us can find happiness in misery (1.15 - 1.22)
Said I don't care what you think (1.22 - 1.25)
As long as it's about me (1.26 - 1.29)
The best of us can find happiness in misery (1.30 - 1.34)
Oh take a chance (1.41 - 1.42)
Let your body get a tolerance (1.42 - 1.44)
I'm not a chance, but a heat wave in your pants (1.44 - 1.47)
Pull a breath like another cigarette (1.48 - 1.50)
Palms up, I'm trading 'em (trading 'em) (1.50 - 1.55)
I'm the oracle in my chest (1.55 - 1.58)
Let the guitar scream like a fascist (1.59 - 2.05)
Sweat it out, shut your mouth (2.05 - 2.06)
Free love on the streets (2.06 - 2.07)
But in the alley I ain't that cheap, now (2.07 - 2.10)
I don't care what you think (2.10 - 2.14)
As long as it's about me (2.14 - 2.17)
The best of us can find happiness in misery (2.17 - 2.24)

survey of expectations
Here we have conducted a survey and asked people of what they would expect in a music video in the similar genre and way of fall out boy, we had several similar responces of skinny jeans, dark colours and a mix of performance and narrative.
1) What clothes would you expect to see in a music video of a band similar
to the genre of fall out boy?
2) What type of lighting and colours would you expect to see in a music
video of a band similar to the genre of fall out boy?
3) Do you prefer a narrative or performance based music video or mix of both?
4) Would you expect to see a narrative or performance based or mixed
music video of a band similar to the genre of fall out boy?
1) ermm "skater" type clothes (i think),
2) bright colours
3) i prefer a nice mixed music video;)
4) and i would expect to see a mixed from a fall out boy - type band
1) skinny jeans/punky shit
2) generally dark
3) mix of both
4) performance based
1) Darkish clothes, eyeliner etc.
2) darkish

Typical Conventions of Fall Out Boy / Emo Music
Fall out boys music, image and persona has changed over the past 8 years, the typical emo convention has been fluent throughout.
For example in one of the bands first music videos 'a little less sixteen candles a little
more touch me' the band wear dark colored tight clothes, this is a typical convention
of emo bands and has almost became a calling card for the band.
The band also experiment with unique, individual hairstyles, i believe they do this to get a reaction out of people and to cause controversy, which after all is what emo is all about.
Advert Analysis
The Stereophonics look Calm and carry on album cover shows , the water rising, yet they don't care they are going to "keep calm and carry on" they look nice and relaxed to suite the mood of the album. The color pallete of the album is very neutral, with mainly blues and greys.the only vibrant colors in the artwork come from the table in which the band are sitting, this draws the viewers eye into the centre of the bands position and gives each member an equal view.
The bands name is in bold which strengthens the 'corperate logo' of the product.
The band are wearing very dark, dull colors... the colors they wear stand out to a certain extent but don't overpower the background...both the background and the foreground compliment each other so well.
The release date and different media format's are also advertised at the bottom of the artwork, however they are in a white font, in my opinion this is to contrast between the band logo etc.
the gorillaz focus on the cartoony effects as their band image and as a result of this the plastic beach album cover is in cartoon its the world of the gorillaz.
the album features an island, the island is lavished with expensive items such as a penthouse style building...in my opinion this could be the band symbolising their rise to fame. in my opinion the island also looks similar to a cartoon style face, this cartoon theme is a trademark of the bands. the colours in the artwork are highly contrasting, the bright colours all come from the island, this gives of the impressin that the island is a really fun place to be compared to the dull mircy water in the foreground.
the band logo is in the foreground also, in my opinion this is to make it stand out... the bright text and the dull water creates a high contrast.
The advertisement for foo fighters says it all FF due to the large fan base they already have, the image shows the words greatest hits it doesnt really need much to grab attention. At the bottom of the advertisement it says including best of you,the pretender and time like these , this alerts the fans as they are favourites, also the band show a new song wheels.people will by the album just to listen to the new song.
her the beatles are the height of the career in the picture , the bottom right of the advertisement shows the record company apple, the advertiement is trying to sell the classic beatles singles. it has all the single covers underneath.

Target Audience
The target audiance i am trying to aim for will be for early to late teens. I am chosing this audiance becasue there is a lot of different music types that aims at them and would fit perfectly. The music genre we have chosen is Emo, the basic image of and emo is to do with skinny jeans, band t shirts, hoodies, his is a plain dress sense.

music video analysis
The music video starts with Feeder front man walking whilst playing the songs guitar riff. The light in the background are flashing , the video appears to be in black and white , this mise en scene makes the band look old fashioned maybe illustrating their music being traditional.on 0.16 seconds the shot zooms in on a meat shot of Grants head as he sings the first line of vocals. The centre of focus stay on him before zooming out to introduce the second band member (take hirose) after roughly 0.20 seconds the band jump into the chorus of the song. at 0.33 shows them really focusing on playing the instruments. they look passionate about the music. The video shows no narrative,no storyline in it.its entirely based on the band and the song, its a no nonsense video straight to the point. at 2.44 shows the lead singer grant jump with his guitar and stretch his legs apart this is his stage signature move.also this certain jump is the front cover to their greatest hits album "the Singles" .Throughout the video it shows a series of women playing drums for the song this is due to the death of drummer jon lee , the song is a tribute to him ,the band believed that if he were here he'd like the idea,it shows that no matter how many drummers they have they will never equal to jons drumming skills. The videos dark surrounding show a sort of depression.it illustrates how the band are feeling in a hard time.this link in with the album this songs from called comfort in sound.

shot count task
in the killers video for when you were young i counted up 187 different shots , most of which were when the song began to pick up a bit of pace , the video based alot of these shots on brandon flowers called meat shots , and a few on the entire band
9 frame analysis
The first screenshot shows all the world leader sat around a table negotiating.the rooms dark maybe showing corruptions in the minds of these leaders
The second screenshot shows the leader all being of different races and from different cultures and surroundings, they all seem to be getting along really well considering the worod is unstable
here is the first shot of a band member , drummer dom opens the song with a catchy beat he helps represent the ordinary person in comparison to the leaders
this screenshot shows lead singer matt bellamy with his eyes closed and singing passionatly into the microphone.this is a meat shot of him as he also represening the regular or (ordinary person) has a right to speak out
the shot shows muse playing infront of the world leaders and speaking out for them "time is running out " is the message to be put across
the shot once again shows matt singing with bassist chris in background worknig away at the bass once again muse are the centre attention of the shot
here all band members are visable and all in matching uniform this could represent equality in todays sociaty , the world leaders in the background seem slightly intrested in whats happening and judging by their facial expressions are understanding
in this shot the world leaders are stood up and are now dancing to the tune of muse , "time is running out " the world leader are moving sharply and are taking action
the chorus of the song comes up and the lights in the background turn red and everybody dissapears besides matt bellamy as he starts singing the chorus, the attentions on him , it shows one man can change the world .

Band Image
Band Image Hairstyles-Traditional band hairstyles are long and uncontrolled, however pop/punk hair is the exception, most styles very in thickness and length but normally consist of choppy layers, a sweeping fringe and the odd spike or two, these elements are sometimes combined with brightly coloured highlights to give a rebellious look to the style.
Body-Although there is no rule on what to wear for the pop/punk genre I believe that plain clothes with not much colour in them would suit best, such as black, white, grey, dark purple etc these should be the primary colours and the more brighter colours such as red, blue, yellow etc should ideally be secondary colours.
Jeans- In most cases dark skinny jeans would be the obvious choice however there are alternatives to these such as coloured or patterned skinny jeans as well as baggy jeans or possibly shorts.
Shoes-Most band wear well known alternative makes such as converse, vans, DC’s etc, these makes would probably work best for creating an alternative look
